3 Artists To Host "Junk" Kimono-making Workshop

Facilitated by artists, LaVerne Kemp, Karen Page and Christine Bethea,  a special group of Pittsburgh artists have been invited to a special day-long workshop @ the Pittsburgh Center For the Arts to create a kimono made of recycled objects for the eco/tech fashion showcase, one of the highlights of GA/GI's events the evening of Friday, April 1 under the direction of fashionista, Kristin Barker. Last year's line-up included Modcloth, Hey Betty, and Jonano to name a few. This year will include fashions created by local designers as well as work by students from CAPA, Karen Page, Instructor, and a second collection by Neighborhood Academy, Amanda Gross, Instructor.

Much of the clothing modeled on Friday will be available for sale at the Pittsburgh Glass Center--celebrating its 10th Anniversary-- on Saturday, April 2 and artists will be  available to talk about their designs. A portion of the proceeds will go to help a local environmental cause.
